Christian Chiropractor Brighton Michigan
Dr. Bruce Zapor is a Christian, and although that is not the primary reason for choosing a chiropractor, it is important to realize that the human body shows every sign of having been intelligently designed. If it was designed, the designer would have put information within the body to heal itself. Oddly enough, this is the case ! The goal of chiropractic is the removal of interferences to that self healing. Seems to fit together perfectly, doesn't it?

How Did I become a Chiropractor ?
First, I became a chiropractic patient. How did I become a chiropractic patient ? Actually, probably like everyone else who becomes a chiropractic patient. I had a problem. I went to a medical doctor first. Didn't get helped. Went to a chiropractor out of desperation. Got helped.
In my mid twentys I was a dedicated runner. Ran about 30 to 40 miles per week. In the late 1970's and early eightys I ran a total of three marathons.
Like many runners, I developed knee pain. Like many runners I went to my running friends first and asked them how to cure my knee pain. I did all the home cures. Ice, heat, wraps, aspirin, running backwards, nothing helped. So I went to my family medical doctor. He wasn't sure how to help me so he sent me to an internest. He wasn't sure how to help me, so he sent me to an orthopedist. The orthopedist was a very kind and brilliant man. He did his best but he did not help me either. I'm leaving a lot out of the story. I took time off running. I lifted weights. I took an anti-inflamatory drug. Which worked great ! Except that when the drug wore off, the pain was still there and getting worse. Now it hurt up my knee into my left hip.
The last time I saw my orthopedist I said, "nothing is helping me, what can we do ?" He said, "lets wait a week and if there is no change let's inject a little cortisone into your knee."
Cortisone ! I did not, at twenty eight years old, want corisone injected in my knee. I had a week with nothing to do, and I happened to see an advertisement from a chiropractor's office. I had nothing to loose. I went to the chiropractors office. Brought in my running shoes, gave him the whole history. He did an exam and said he felt the trouble was in my low back. I was skeptical, but I had no where else to turn to. He did an x-ray, and adjusted my low back. Long story short. Three adjustments later, my knee pain was gone and I was running as much and as fast as I wanted.
A few months later my 6 month old baby daughter became ill. Terrible GI problems, nothing was helping her. One Saturday morning I was at home and I started to think, "the chiropractor helped me so much, could he help my little girl ?" I took her into her office and he checked her spine. He said she had a problem with one of her joints motion. I asked him to please fix it. He adjusted her hip. Three days later she was fine, all of her terrible GI symptoms, gone.
After seeing that, I wanted to be able to do that. To heal people with nothing more than just my hands. I was a Respiratory Therapist at the time. I had obtained the highest credential that can be held in that profession, the RRT. My Respiratory Therapy back gound was very helpful. I lacked some prerequisite classes. So I went back to college, applied to and was accepted to chiropractic school.
